Pausing to sniff the air, Blackcat slunk off in a different direction from the two she-cats, more intent on hunting than listening to their prattle. The black tom kept low, not wanting to startle his prey before he had a chance to catch it. Pawstep by pawstep, he moved silently, tail held down behind him, not moving except with the jolt from each step he took. His nose twitched, sorting out the difference scents until he found what he was looking for. Not rabbit, no, but a bird. Hopefully it was a big one. He slunk along, focused on the scent trail and what would lay at the end.

Eyes alight, there seemed to be some sort of winged creature not far ahead. Resuming her hunting stance, she crept as quickly and silently as she could. Had she known that she was on the same trail as Blackcat, she would've immediately stopped in disgust and waited for him to get to it so that she could watch. Other cats' hunting techniques were always a point of interest to her. Flattening her ears to her skull, she felt herself merging with the rest of nature, melting into the soil that housed the worms, bacteria, and other insects that helped to fertilize the plants that attracted the prey mammals. She was one with nature, a part of the symbiotic relationship; she relied on the prey, and the prey relied on her.

BrisingerGaze was upon a hill when she happen to glance over spotting a bird in the eye sight of BlackCat. Sighing through her nostrils, she dropped her rabbit she had just kill to watch this hunt, until she spotted the other warrior. Both eyes widen slightly as she studied where her eyes were glued on to. Then she reliazed both the deputy and the warrior were going to crash into each other. Both eyes widen slightly, but she did not warn out to them. No. She would get yelled at by the deputy for cutting into his kill and by the warrior for most likely the same reason. Sighing heavily, she slowly picked up the rabbit before trotting off, not wanting to see the events that were about to unfold before her. She already had a pretty good feeling and she did not want to see. 'I already had my chance,' she thought as she buried her kill under an old fallen log.

Just a bit closer. Blackcat could see the bird picking at something on the ground. It was a dark color, but what type of bird exactly, he didn't know at the moment. As long as it was fresh kill for the clan, he didn't care. The deputy slunk closer, golden eyes fixed on what would be his prize. The tip of his tail twitched ever so slightly, claws sharp and ready to deal damage to the huge wings and keep the bird from escaping. Crouching low, his all four paws gathered under him, Blackcat waited a second before pouncing, timing his lunge just right, when the bird had it's head down and wouldn't have time to escape.

Inwardly cheering as she caught the bird at the appropriate time, she barely had time to think as she prepared her move. Lowering herself just far enough for her legs to react on time, she threw herself at it, legs gracefully straightening as they hit the air. Soaring like the starling she was about to kill for nourishment, she found herself falling into one of the seven deadliest sins--pride. The higher good was for whom she was landing the death blow; her Clan needed her to act, and thus she did. As she charged into the creature, however, she felt something else shoving against her other side.

Only after his leap did Blackcat see another moving shadow lunge at the bird, and he inwardly cursed whoever it was, though the bright pelt gave it away. His should connected with the side of the cat, and his claws desperately went out at the bird. He was tossed off balance by the collision with the other feline, and the bird would have a chance to get away if something wasn't done soon. Though, unfortunately for the deputy, with a loud call the bird took off, abandoning what it had been pecking at earlier.
"Mousebrain!" he snarled at the cat, now actually taking a swpie at the warrior under him, claws unsheathed. "I had that bird, and you ruined it!" A growl was rumbling in his throat, lips drawn back and teeth exposed. Oh yes, Blackcat was pissed and wanting revenge for the kill he had just lost.

Startled by the sudden movement, she cussed as his weight came down on her. No, no, no! Spitting, she turned up toward him, not the least bit surprised by his actions. The collision itself had caught her severely off-guard. Baring her teeth, she hurled herself at him, clawing at his underbelly with several vicious strokes. "First of all," she frothed, "I didn't know that you were going after the blasted thing; this part of the forest conceals our scents rather well. And you--oh, if you're such the hunter--then why couldn't you smell me?" Releasing a battle cry, her lithe body whipped backward as she struggled to stand. "And secondly, don't ever touch me there." She gestured with her tail at her upper chest where he had clawed at her. This tom had no idea what she had been through; nevertheless, she wasn't about to let him force her to relive the experience.

Reaching her paw into the unstable pile of rocks, Switchback could almost touch the trapped mouse with her claws. Stretch a little bit farther and she just might be able to pull it out... OUCH! The black and white she-cat withdrew her arm with a snarl. The mouse had bitten her! With a shake of her head to try and clear it of the pain, she shuddered, and suddenly felt a bitter taste in her mouth. Curse it, these mood swings had been getting more and more debilitating recently. Switchblade shook her head with more than a little bit disgust. She'd just spent the past hour or so attempting to free a mouse trapped in a rockslide she had encountered whilst padding past. She felt foolish and hurt, as she usually did once coming to her senses after one of her kind-hearted episodes. Raising the paw to her mouth, she licked at the blood oozing from it. Ungrateful little rodent. Rising onto her haunches, she reached out with her other paw to knock out a cornerstone of the unsteady pile of rocks. With their support gone, a couple of the heavier rocks tumbled down. The mouse squealed in pain. Ears flat, Switchblade grinned at the dying creature. She felt like laughing. The mouse emitted a few more dying squeaks, then - she heard fighting. Interest caught, she turned from her gruesome entertainment and padded toward the noise...

"I was focused on the hunt!" snarled the deputy back, teeth snapping at any fur that came close to his jaws, claws aiming at whatever limb the she-cat tried to attack him with. There was an oh-so horrible pain coming from his belly, but just as quickly as her attack had started, it ended. Blackcat rolled onto his paws. If she thought this was over, she was sorely mistaken. Hissing and growling, the tom started to circle the warrior, not paying attention in the least to her words. In one sudden movement he tossed himself at the she-cat, aiming for her legs. It wasn't a move to knock her down, oh no. Blackcat wanted her to jump, avoid his attack in some way so he could continue with an assault. If she didn't, well, he would have a good chance at her throat.

Snorting, she rolled her eyes at him, eyes aflame. "And you don't think," she began, tone raising to a dangerously high volume, "you don't think that perhaps I was focused on the hunt, that it just happened to be the same one? Look, I know I enjoy teasing you, but even I wouldn't sabotage hunting. Hunting--hunting is the greatest sport known to cat. I have the utmost respect for a warrior going after his or her prey." Most likely to his dismay, she sat perfectly still, throat wide open. Whatever he would try to pull, she was ready.

BrokenBone laughed at the two feuding cats, though he wasn't much for fighting, he was much more of a 'brainy' sort of cat. But, honestly, over a small scrap of meat? He chuckled out loud, his opaque fur shifting slightly over his thin skin. His jagged teeth showed as he opened his mouth to let out the rough, scraggly - only a whisper mind you, lest his deputy hear, it wasn't a fight he could win - laugh. His weight shifted as he watched Blackcat lash out, and as he watched the she-cats responce, but still he stayed out.

If Premonitionaura could hear Brokenbone laughing, it wasn't apparent. Too caught up in her brawl, she eyed the tom before her with unbidden disdain. Her very presence egged him on, encouraging him to engage in ruthless slaughter. She was his drug, whether he knew it or not. Eyes narrowing, she wanted him to explode in a pernicious rage. Unable to control her anger, she directed it at him; it was the story of her life. Many an idiot had tried to take a go at her and had come up empty-handed.
