Bloodclan's forests. Blackcat enjoyed hunting in them. The prey was nice, and it was good to get out of the stuffy camp and away fom the horrid glare of Brisingergaze. Ever since finding their way back home from that Twoleg place, the two cats hadn't had the best relationship. Even kits hadn't changed that. Blackcat growled at the memories, swiping his claws across a piece of bark. His ears pulled back against his head, eyes narrowing, and tail thrashing. Why couldn't the dang she-cat leave him alone to do his deputy duties?! Sure, Blackcat wasn't the nicest cat in the clan, but her attitude towards him had been rubbing him the wrong way and putting the cat in an even worse mood than usual.
"Ugh. Why can't she go jump off a cliff?" he growled.
"Talking to yourself again, oh great Deputy?" a voice teased behind him.
Blackcat rolled his eyes, knowing who it was. He had brought two cats out with him on a hunting patrol, Shadebane and Shadowburn, two sibling warriors. "Don't test me, Shadowburn. Get the kill back to camp." He pointed with his tail to where his cache was stored. The two warriors went at it, splitting the deputy's catch between them. Blackcat ignored the unamused grumbles from the siblings. They could suck it up and deal with it. He wanted to stay out in the forest some more.
The black pelted cat flicked his tail, tilting his head back and looking at the thick storm clouds rolling overhead. Thunder rumbled and small lightnings began to flash. A storm was coming, and coming fast. Once more his eyes narrowed, the tom starting through the trees at a good fast walk. He was hoping to reach some sort of Shadebane and Shadowburn back to camp. Soaked through to the bone, Blackcat was relieved when he spotted a tree knot. It was a perfect place to wait out the storm.

As the storm broke out, a bolt of lightning came down and hit a massive tree. Cats howled as they moved out of the way and one rather small she-cat rolled out of danger and was torn from the portal she was supposed to be with. Sighing she stood up and then she felt the heavy rain crash down onto her body. Growling with disgust she began to run back towards camp, but the rain was so thick to make anything out and seen all the scents were washed away. Growling with anger she clawed at a near by bush sending dead leafs fluttering to the ground until they were nailed down by the force of the droplets. This was just perfect. She had to go on the stupid portal after doing one that morning and then at sun high. She knew BlackCat was doing this just to annoy her. That tom never made her life easy. Not after she told him she was carrying kits. Once that news came out, he ignored her. Banished her to the back of his mind and punished her as if she committed the greatest sin on earth. Her anger almost took control over her, but a roar of thunder made her leap forward and run once more.
Paws were pounding on the ground as she leapt over fallen trees, crawled under roots trying to get back to camp or at least find a place to hide that was a not already taken. Frowning both red eyes darted about in panic as the winds began to pick up. They were howling in her ears, mocking her. She wanted to cry, but the clouds were already doing that for her. It was all BlackCat’s fault. If he hadn’t sent her out to scent the same spots over and over, she would be safe at camp with the protection of the cliff. She stopped for a moment standing under a tree breathing heavily before her body started to shake. Her thin pelt, due to Greenleaf, was soaked to her skin and her small frame body couldn’t take it. Growling she took her neck sending droplets flying and making the collar around her neck from that horrid twoleg place twist slightly. She was never able to get it off. It was always a reminder of what happen, what could have been, and what haunted her so.
Looking up at the sky, she saw the thunder clouds roll over head sending their wrath upon the forest. It was the anger she wanted to get out. She had done no wrong yet was sent to this hell for no reason of her own. Squaring her shoulders she glanced around and could make out a tree with a knot. Delight came to her and she darted across to it. Jumping up, she sank her claws into the bark before climbing up and heaving her body into the space. Once inside, she felt warmth come to her, but her was still horribly shaking. Sighing with relief she glanced around and almost froze when her red eyes fell upon him.
“Oh brilliant!” she exclaimed as she began to climb back into the entrance of the knot. “Out of all the trees in this whole forest I had to pick one with the narrow minded, two face prideful bastard of a deputy.” She did not care what she was saying. She was caught up in the moment of the storm. Shriving again made her lose balance and fall back into the knot on her back. "oomph," she gasped.

The knot was perfect. It was roomy and a great place to watch the rain fall. The deputy gave his fur a good shake, scattering water drops everywhere. Blackcat sat down, giving his chest a few rough licks before moving go lick at his side. He kept at licking his fur down until he heard something. Someone was clawing their way up this tree. The sounds weren't easy to hide. Ears flicked back and teeth became bared, his claws unsheathing. He didn't think there would be any other clan cats in this sort of storm, which meant a loner or some sort of rodent.
Blackcat was surprised, though. It was a clan cat that had clawed her way up the tree trunk into the knot. She didn't seem to notice the deputy there, but Blackcat sure knew who it was that had decided to make herself at home in the very hole he had taken shelter in. It was Brisingergaze, the last she-cat he wanted to see today. But, what was this? She was shaking. From the rain, most likely.
And there she went, going on a rant after noticing who she was sharing the tree with. Blackcat rolled his eyes, pushing himself farther into the back. "Say what you want. I was here first." He had gotten used to the name calling. Brisingergaze wasn't the only one to try to insult him that way. Many other cats tried. Few could anger him with it. He did watch with mild amusement as she fell onto her back. For once, Blackcat was glad he had thicker fur than the smaller she-cat. It certainly served her right.
He flicked his tail, laying down in the back of the tree. "You might as well just stay here until the storm calms down. You'll catch your death out there." He placed his head on his paws, back turned towards Brisingergaze. "Just stay away and don't touch me." Did those semi-nice words actually come from the cold-hearted deputy? Indeed they had. Why he had said that was a mystery.

BrisingerGaze was completely flustered by her fall and rolled over onto her front glaring out of the knot half ignoring what BlackCat was saying. She did not care anymore about the harsh words he could throw her way. It had been like that for moons and nothing was going to change it. When she heard his statement about staying she gave a cold bitter laugh before shaking her pelt slightly trying to warm herself. “Perhaps death will the only thing to save me from this horrid life.” She replied back before she began to lick her fur trying to try it. Yes, it was true. The small she-cat wished she was dead. BlackCat did not make it easy for her. When a deputy distrusted a warrior so much and always made remarks, it rubbed off on the rest of the clan. She had no friends. Only of her kits was alive and she did not even speak with her. Wolfstar, her father, could never look at her the same since she failed to give him proper kits that could live past the first year of their life.
Her shaking became worst and she gave up trying to dry herself as she curled herself into a tight ball turning her gaze to the walls of the knot. Why would she go near him? Why would she touch him? The last time she did either he betrayed her, left her for dead. She was walking through a life without a creature by her side because of him. He ran from his duty and ran from her. Shaking her head, she made the two leg collar turn around, it’s steelblue glow started as it became darker and darker like it always did. Sighing heavily, she curled further in on herself trying to keep all warmth she had, but her body refused to keep any, yet her mind was forcing her body to keep shaking to try to generate heat. “As you wish,” she muttered trying to sound strong, but was failing horribly.
Pelt burn with anger, but not as much anger that was raging outside of the tree. BrisingerGaze half hoped a lightning bolt would come down and destroy the very tree they were seeking shelter in, but that would be selfish, still the thought was almost pleasant. Sighing, she tucked her tail over her muzzle and closed her eyes tightly. Between the shaking and her thin wet fur, she looked like a miserable hair ball. It was completely and utterly pathetic.

Blackcat snorted. No cat wanted death. Some could talk and act tough, saying that it didn't bother them and they would gladly face it without flinching when their time came, but those very cats were the ones who were the most terrified when their time finally came. Even with a horrid life, one he didn't quite see, he couldn't truly believe that she welcomed the final end. Sure, not many of the other cats spoke with her on a regular basis, but did Brisingergaze really care about that? She certainly hadn't let on if she did. Why would she even care? Blackcat had no cats he would consider friends. Then again, as deputy he was forced to interact with others.
He was planning on continuing to ignore her, curled up in his little spot. It wouldn't be that hard. The deputy had managed to tune her out for all these moons, ignoring what she said, and going on with his duties. Of course he made the occasional snide remark back when he was in a bad mood, but what cat didn't? Surely his remarks weren't what were making her wish for death. Ugh. He was thinking about this more than he should. He curled up into a tighter ball, setting his tail over his nose. hopefully this weather would pass and he could get back to camp. The sooner the better. He didn't want to spend any more time than necessary here.
She said something, though, and it didn't sound like her normal tone. Blackcat twitched an ear, lifting his head from his paws and craning his head back to look at the shaking she-cat. She looked absolutely horrible. Brisingergaze wasn't dry, and she wouldn't stop taking. He rolled his eyes, unable to believe he was going to do what he was going to do. The tom got to his paws, padding over and curling up with his back to her back. She was sure to complain, but he didn't rightfully care. "Shove a mouse in it and lay still. If you're going to die, die with your head held high and like a true warrior, not shivering and wet like some helpless kit." A bit harsh, but Blackcat wasn't known for his subtly.

BrisingerGaze was a bit taken back…not completely and truly surprised at what the deputy just did. Flicking an ear, she almost made the effort to crane her neck to look at him, but found that making her want to gag. Exhaling softly she laid there shaking, though felt warmth coming from him which she suppose would make it worth wild to live through this blasted storm. Yet she could always just run out and pray to DeathClan she would make it back to camp. No, that was mouse brain enough. A better end would be finding a group of loners and then having your clan find you later in your blood with their hair caught between their claws, not found on the ground like some piece of hair ball that was dragged through a river and mud.
“Thank you,” she muttered trying to sound as thankful as she felt without a hiss or cold tone in it. She wasn’t one for this idea about sharing body heat…well taking body heat, but it wasn’t often that BlackCat showed a bit of kindness let alone did something out of his why. She knew the odium he held for her, reasons that were out of her control as to why, so she knew it was not an easy task for him to perform. She hadn’t notice, but through her ranting, within her mind of course, her shivering had decreased, but it was still noticeable. She was not going to make a big deal out of it.
Yes, perhaps after the storm had cleared she would go out and find loners. They would attack the clan for the wet air and the mud they would roll around in would cover their scent making it easy to attack. It would be perfect. Still the thought did frighten her slightly, but it just drew her in more. Closing her eyes tightly she pushed the thought out of her mind. She could not do not. No matter how easy it was. Running from your sorrows was not the answer. BrisingerGaze knew she had to suck it up and carry on with clan life. Sit through the meetings, ignore the she-cats always wanting to birth kits, ignoring the prideful toms, and go on performing clan duties without a word being said from or to her. Well, maybe going blind would put her in the elders den. Then she could terrify apprentices. ‘Oh this storm needs to end,’ she whined in her thoughts.
