The dawn was just breaking as a few droplets started rolling down an over hanging tree limb with rich orange and red leafs still clinging onto it. The droplets slid down the bark to the steam of the leaf until they just swiftly bounced off the edges of the leaf free falling to an un-expecting apprentice. Both clouded green eyes shot open as icy touches were sent down his spine causing him to make a small yowl of surprise. Looking around the den in a daze state, he strained his ears to listen to anything out of the blue, but once another droplet fell from above, embarrassment flashed across his flank. Mumbling, Oakpaw pulled himself to his paws before stalking towards the entrance of his den to the cold still camp beyond. A heavy frown came over his face as he smelt the air, still the trance of those strange cats still held in the air which cause the clan to turn to him to get answers from Straclan. He, being only an apprentice without a mentor, would not give them what they wanted. Flatting his ears to his skull as he remembered the tones of his Clanmates’ voices. At least tonight….at least tonight it was the new moon. Now he would have to pick a warrior to guide him until he reached Forests’ Center were the other medicine cats would be waiting for him.
The thought of someone guiding him made his stomach turn with disgust as well as his upper lip curl. Giving a low throaty growl, a soft tongue was pulled across his ear making him freeze for a moment. Inhaling the icy air, he noticed it was just mother. “Mother?” he asked, but before she could answer, he added, ”Why are you awake?” Purring loudly, his mother, SunSetImage, just pressed her nose to the top of his head before replying. “I’m on the dawn portal today and the question is like wise towards you.” Curse her. Always quick on her tongue, though maybe that was why she was able to birth Outcast’s children. No, that good for nothing tom must have forced his mother to bear him and his siblings. Turning his head, he tried to picture where his mother’s face was by letting his whiskers feeling her warm breath beating against them. “It’s dawn mother, the forest wakes at this time.” Giving an acute nod, he turned on his heel before stalking about into his den. SunSetImage just sighed heavily as she watched her son with her silver color eyes. “He is so much like his father…”
