"Oh yes, she thinks everything and anything has the potential to be exciting." Sakura said, smilling smugly as Boo snapped down the fence and ran over to them.
Immediatly she came face to face with the new tom. Her eyes narrowed and she surveyed him all around. Walking in a small circle her head slowly moved up and down, missing not one single hair. Then, when she was done with that, meating him face to face agiain, she smiled broadly, and said, with her high, little kidd-sih voice, "Hi! I'm Boo!" Her eyes spread wide with excitment and her tail puffed out.
Sakura snikkered.

Oh...no. Not one of these. No neighborhood's complete without its resident neurotic loony. Such a lulu. Raising a brow, he extended his right paw as he'd seen his owner do dozens of times. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Marek." His chest was broad, and the puff of snowy white fur stuck out in a huge puff. The Siberian sighed at his funny appearance.
Ray stood steadily behind. This was interesting. He wondered what Boo would do or say to this.

With this movement, Boo took the opposite paw, and smacked Marek's with a loud laugh. "Aren't you funny?? We don't do that here. We do this instead!" She bounced foreward the remaining step and and swiftly flicked her tunge over his cheek. A shiver - hopefully invisible - rushed over her spine. Something felt awfully wrong about it, but she laughed when she jumped back anyways. "I'm Boo by the way. That's my sister, Sakura." She cassually flicked her tail towards the red pelted she-cat.

Had she just ... licked his cheek? What was the world coming to? Shaking his head to deter any more potential thoughts, he tilted his head to the side. "Ohhkay. Nice to meet you--er--Boo." He licked his chops as he said her name; it reminded him of the tart-tasting navy-colored berries that had grown near his last home. Ah, memories.
~~~~~
Larus was scooped up in one swift motion by his people in a squawking rage. One of them attempted to snarl something at him, but he cut it short with an ear-splitting, deafening roar. Clamping his jaws shut tightly, he knew that now wasn't the time to throw a temper tantrum. Today his people were in a dead-serious, no-nonsense kind of mood, and he couldn't help but squeak pitifully in fear now as they filled the porcelain basin with water and roughly shoved him in. Paddling like mad, he struggled to stay afloat. Water filled his mouth, causing him to choke. His people wouldn't let him drown, he knew, but nevertheless he was terrified, and he continued to helplessly, hopelessly flail.
Boo laughed. Then, as he licked his lips asked, "What you think I taste good? Here have some." She offered him a paw.
Sakura turned to Ray, " I think we've got him all settled in. What do you say?"
Eying her curiously, he exaggeratedly pretended to chew her paw, throwing in several rather convincing "nom" sounds. "Honestly you just reminded me of something in my old yard. That's all. Not that you don't...um...taste good." This was awkward.
Merely nodding, Ray envied Boo of her liveliness, her energy. How she remained so cheerful all the time was beyond him.
~~~~~
Following his public denunciation, the tom exited his quiet suburban home for the outside world. Admittedly his first time out in the "real world", Larus was more than a little bit wary. At this moment, however, all that he could and would think of was the social injustice, indignity--deprecation!--that he had suffered.
It looked like snow. This much he had learnt from perching on the top of the couch and gazing a bit longingly out the window. White billowy puffs surrounded the peach-and-mocha-colored tom--a winter wonderland. He stuck his nose up in the air, trying to get a scent. One single snowflake alighted on its tip.

Boo laughed as he 'chewed' her paw. But she could tell that the awkward-ness that always crept up on the cats around her. Why was it that they always thought she was weird? She cast a glance around to fill time and then said, "There are more cats who live around here you know. They just have to show up. They will, sometime." A flash of the dead she-cat. Except her.... The thought was un-avoidable.
Sakura noticed a chill, and then saw that small flecks of - so she had been told this was what it was called - snow. They fell lightly, chilling her fur only slightly. Still, she found this a good reason to cuddle up next to Ray. She saw the envy in his eyes as he watched Boo's ever enduring energy. She sighed.

Tilting his head to the side, a name came to his mind. Serik... Flashback to a difficult period of his life, when the coyotes howled up in the dead hills and there was no love, no propensity of ever-flowing, everlasting love. Emptiness, pure, undadulterated emptiness that filled him with sorrow and rage and despair all at once. Sweet agony, sweet, sweet agony always came in waves, never letting him rest. He had escaped from it all by forging a refuge, a sanctuary, a shrine dedicated to his lover. Serik... He was certain that he would never love another as much. Chest heaving up and down, he stomped thoughts flat. That was a long time ago, and he wasn't as meek and stupid now as he had been back then.
"I'm sure they will." It came out hollow-sounding, and he winced at the lack of emotion, so unfeeling, while on the inside he was raw and ragged with guilt. He had always feared hoarse voices.
What was she doing? Trying not to sneeze, Ray glanced down at Sakura. It was true that she was easy on the eyes, but he daren't. It wasn't proper, not at all. "Trying to keep warm?" His voice came out hoarse, just as Marek had feared.
~~~~~
There were so many yards being covered by the falling puffs. Each chilled him to the bone as it fell upon his slight frame. He was hoping to gain at least a few pounds by the end of the winter. We'll see what happens, he mused, not hoping but not lamenting. Clambering to the top of the nearsest post of the picket fence, he crawled his way along, belly flat against the cold gate, until he stumbled across Ray, Sakura, Marek, and Boo. So many all in one place! Staying put, he waited to see who would notice him first.
Boo - a seemingly very un-observing kitten - noticed that something had gone very wrong. But the look in the new tom's eyes told ehr strictly not to ask about it. She peered at him through emerald green eyes that looked as if light by an oil-lamp. Toms never seemed to think sraight. "Sure they will, like that one over there!" She pointed her tail at the new comer.
Sakura looked up at him with freshly-watered grass green eyes. Worry quickly filled them, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, it was just cold."
She noticed over his head that there was another cat. She did not take action on the fact that another new cat. Maybe Marek would like him more than her little sister and the quiet Ray.
Oh, how little Sakura knew of the soon-to-flourish feelings between Larus and Marek! Eying the tom strangely, he shuffled his paws. Must be the day of the newcomers, he thought exasperatedly. Anxiety engulfing his being, he shivered, not just from the cold but from the sheer thought of interacting with the new tom. He was well-built, at least from what he could see of him.
"It's alright." Ray hated himself for hurting her, even if only temporarily. He turned his attentions to Larus, even if to just distract himself for a few moments.
"Hey!" he called, voice rising with the fog. "Come sit with us!"
Startled, Larus jerked his head around to stare at the assembly of cats. Spotted! Nodding, he promptly jumped down from the fence and padded over, taking his time. Cats are, through-and-through, the strangest, most peculiar creatures to ever exist.
Boo - in some graceful, dance-like way - sprinted over to see the newer of the new cats, as fast as she could. It would be fun to see HIS reaction too. She giggeled along her way, and then stopped in front of the Tom. Her ahirs were now sticking out in all directions, she was actually excited to have another new cat, maybe someone who would like HER more than SAKURA.
"You're sure?" Sakura asked, ina mouse like voice. Small, unstable, like a knife balancing on its tip. Her joings remiained tight, for fear he would revial he was lieing.
"Yes. I don't think anyone's ever bothered to get close to me." He looked down, thoroughly downcast. The source of his woes were his own deeply-rooted psychological problems. No matter who prompted him, he would never be able to reveal any of them. He must keep them locked inside, buried.
Puzzled, Larus tilted his head to the right. "Erm...hello?" he mewed as friendly and sensibly as he could. His tone was stable and sweet as honey, at least to Marek's own usually deceptive ears. Sighing, he breathed in the day's fog and breathed out little ringlets of breath.
A small purr of delight left the she-cat. Though, now, Ray didn't seem to be nearly as happy as she was... Sakura leaned against him slightly, sharing warmth as the snow fell in bigger, q-tip like glops. She was glad he was there to be with, it would have been hard to meet so many new cats with just Boo around, making everything weird.
"Well hiya there!" Boo chimed gleefully. The same thing that happened with Marek. A swift lick over the cheek, and a glanced step backwards. A warm smile. Questioning green eyes, waiting for his responce afterwards.
Ray was focused on Larus's reaction to this welcoming. Blinking, he wondered if this tom-cat was used to such treatment? He didn't seem very surprised (yet).
Had she just...? Whatever. Shrugging his shoulders, he gently nudged her cheek. "Is this how everyone greets each other here?" he inquired. And what was with that macho-looking tom who seemed to solely inhabit a world's great green corner? Despite all these questions and strange vibes that came off of everything, Larus felt that he truly belonged here.
"Well... my sister Sakura would tell you it's only me..." Boo said, smile fading some, but not so much that it wasn't seen. "That's her over there." Boo pointed with her tail, at her sister that was resting lightly on Ray. "And then... well, that's another new cat, I think his name is Marek... and then that one is Ray." She motioned to each as she mentioned them.
Sakura inhaled his sent... strong, but not to overpowering. She took a great comfort in him at this moment, even though she could tell that he was thinking of something else completely.
