He needed to step away from the two love-birds. It wasn't that he was feeling queasy or envious; he just couldn't stand the silence or--worse--forced smalltalk. Padding over to Larus, he rested his weary paws in front of his large frame. "Name's Marek." He stuck his paw out once more (will I have to do this every day? Oi!), and--a bit to his surprise, he had to admit--Larus's own paw evenly met his in a firm handshake. He wanted to squeal in delight, but thought better of it and continued to remain calm.
"Some grip," he managed to grunt out. Why do I keep doing that?
Eying the Siberian with a look of bafflement, Larus shrugged it off. Inwardly chortling, he had never heard a cat grunt like a pig before! "It's good to meet you. And"--here he paused to turn his nod on Boo--"you. Today's been very...traumatic, so far. I just barely escaped an assault."
"Sakura... Do you love me?" Ray inquired. It just came out before he could even stop to think. Inwardly silencing his conscience which screamed "Take it back! You're not ready for the answer either way!", he had to know the truth.

The question took her breath. It was something that she was unexpected, but her own mind had been laboring over the question for weeks - so it seemed. The bright red she-cat looked at him, trying to decide what answer would give the best result. If it hurt him for her to say yes - like she feared so badly - she would lie to him and say no. But if he wanted the truth from her, she would spill what she thought was real and say yes. "Depends on what you want me to say." She tried to shrug the question off, but wanted him to answer her comment. Sakura wanted to scream at him. Scream at him to say the same as she would. Yes.

Piercing eyes penetrated deep within her soul. It was obvious to him, but he had to hear it. He wasn't certain how great his intuition was at that moment. "I want to hear the truth." Coming out in a steady sigh, he felt frozen to the core, waiting for a response. Hopefully she would be honest in her response. Heart beating heavily, a solid weight was placed on his shoulders--no, more like a bomb--ticking and ticking, waiting to annihilate all who stood in his way.

She steadied herself. Was it wrong? No.. No it wasn't. Emotions that she'd been hiding from him since they met made her legs shake. Her stomach turned over as the one word that might change her life stumbled its way through her chest, and over her vocal cords. Something she knew was revailed to her. "Yes."
Sakura thought she might fall to the ground. The answer that had come out unsteadily at first now had its own sentance. "Yes Ray, I do!" It was louder than before, more triumphant. She was still wondering why, though, he had asked her this question.

Why was he so anxious to hear this? It's not as if anyone else living loved him. There was nothing to fret over, no problems. Swallowing hard, he couldn't meet her eyes at the moment. He felt unsteady, and he audibly gulped. "Oh." Mrrow!ing shakily, it wasn't because he found the situation humorous, he realized--it was because he was petrified. Again, he couldn't place why and had no idea how to respond to this, other than making a buffoon of himself, of course. "I see."

Once again she braced herself for pain. "Oh Ray, I'm sorry. I didn't mean... I'm sorry. I... I can go if you need me to." Buffoon? No, Sakura took it more as a bad thing that she had told him to truth... Why hadn't she seen this? Of corse she had seen this, but why did she think hat he would be all happy go-lucky once he knew the truth? But hadn't they both known that? But then a question formed in her eyes.
Her fresh, spring green eyes screamed, 'You love me too right?' She didn't dare ask it though. It might come out wrong, compared to the delicate composure of her last jumbled words. So she let them hang in the air, risking to be swept away by any rustle in the wind.

He turned on his tail, slowly padding away. Truth be told, he had to force himself away, as he felt that he owed her more than this. "I'm sorry, but until I have my own feelings sorted, I have to go." Isolation would suit him perfectly, he realized, but he did not look forward to it. He was a social butterfly--he needed to be among his people!

Boo turned just in time to see Ray walking away and Sakura standing there, looking as if she was about to die. What on earth had he said to her, to make her look so hurt. Though, she probably felt that way too. They would sort it out though. Boo was sure her sister knew what she was doing. Helping cats. Helper. That was Sakura's taken role. And Boo watched, and expected Sakura to chase after the tom. But she didn't.
Sakura felt as if every part of her had just been crushed. As if every dream, every hope, everything she had ever worked for, was crushed under his paw, as he turned away. His voice was mellencolly. Why though? Wasn't it a good thing to know? Wasn't that what life was all about? Knowing one's self? She also knew that if he needed help, he would most likely seek out someone else. Not her... if he would seek it out at all. He wouldn't want her help... So she stayed where she was, and watched his figure fad into the low fog that acopmained the snow.

Frozen winter wonderland--icy paradise. It was all meaningless to him, of no use, now. Slumping low to his stomach, he felt the dampness, the chill, creeping up to him, numbing his insides. Groaning, it was what he wanted, more than life or death themselves. In his own yard, he used this time to give his weary joints a rest. Laying himself down to freeze, he hoped that he wouldn't thaw out anytime soon.
Marek and Larus had watched the situation play out, as they had grown bored of the awkward silence and stiff conversation found among each other. Biting his lip, Larus couldn't help but fret and whimper. Grinding his teeth, Marek felt as if he had trespassed along sacred ground, as if he didn't belong. Tugging at Larus's tail, Marek motioned that they return to their own homes. Throwing the macho-wannabe tom a withering look, Larus clearly sent his message; now wasn't the time to bother the emotional cat.
Without a word, Larus went to sit by the devastated she-cat. Where should he begin? Sighing, he watched as his breath turned into fog before his eyes. Reaching for the right words, he cleared his throat before speaking. "Miss... I'm sorry. He made an idiot of himself just now. Don't let him get you down."
Meanwhile, Marek, upon seeing Larus's efforts to make these strange cats like him, decided upon giving this "Ray" character a visit. Sprinting as fast as his legs could carry him, he wasn't entirely sure where he was going, but the tom's scent--as he had noticed earlier when speaking to him--was very strong. In fact, it took him only a few more pawsteps before he found the tom laying belly-first in the snow, almost completely buried. Was he trying to suffocate himself?
"Get up, you pillock!" he roared, his voice sounding like thunder to Ray's partially muffled ears. Frightened into submission, the tom shakily rose to his paws.
"I-I-I don't...h-h-have to l-l-l-listen...to you. You can't tell me what to do! You can't make me go back there!" With every new word uttered, his tone grew stronger so that by the end of his dialogue he was shouting clearly and strongly with no stutters.
Grunting, Marek eyed the tom questioningly. "Oh? I can't, can I? You have to go back there, Ray. You can't just leave her there, suspended in time!"
Spitting, he was frothing at the mouth. "I can't very well tell her, can I? I can't tell her 'I love you, Sakura' and then--after thirty suns-up and suns-down--realize that I don't and that there's someone else and that I've fooled around on here and she's found out and everything's a mess and she hates me and I hate myself and--"
In one rapid motion, Marek had Ray pinned down, a paw to his throat. Growling, he inched his teeth closer and closer to Ray's nose. "Listen, tom. You will go back there. You will tell her, one way or another, and--let's be honest--I don't care if you tell her you love her or if you tell her that you hate her and never want to see her again. I just think that you owe her a response. And don't give me any of this 'I don't know how I feel' nonsense! You know damned well how you feel--you're just trying to escape the situation."
"Why do you care so much?" His tone was nothing more than a whining whimper now.
Eyes narrowing, Marek's spittle flew on the ground beside Ray, a snail's slither away from his whiskers. "Let's just say I know what it's like to be screwed over when it comes to love."

Sakura looked at the tom, with almost the same as the other. Odd, but not repulsive. "Oh? I don't know what got into him just now... But... I feel like he's got something to say, or something NOT to say maybe..." She had heard this toms name menchined surely? "Larus right? I'm Sakura. I don't think we really met..."
Boo's lamp lit green eyes watched as Marek chased down Ray... pinned him down, and their argument progressed. It was about Sakura? Most definatly. It was impossible not to notice Ray and Sakura's progressing - for the worst maybe - relationship. And as Larus turned to Sakura, she felt not only a pang of pitty, but deeper, a clawing jelousy. Why did Sakura get all the fuss? Why didn't she get some of the action? But that didn't matter because Sakura stood, talking to Larus, about to burst into tears.

ooc: Yes! Mwuahahaha! Jealousy brews thick and strong like the best ale in all of Cyrodiil!
bic: Ears flattening, the tom was taken aback by her unfazed attitude. "Yeah... Well, I guess we're meeting now, then. So hello." Examining her as meticulously as he could, he found no traces of treachery or cruel intention in her character. It simply was not in her nature to lie or do anyone harm... At least, not without feeling incredibly guilty about it afterward.
Rolling and tussling, the two writhing tom-cats both held clashing thoughts. If he kills me, this is it. This is the end. This is how I'll die, Ray thought, eyes bulging from their sockets. Pillock! Just apologize and say it! Just say it!, Marek thundered in the safe confines of his mind. Raking a claw across Ray's side, Marek easily overpowered the scrap of fur, jolting Ray from his own thoughts.
"I give up!" he cried out at last. "Get off me, and I'll tell her!"

Larus was closer to the truth than he would ever know. She would never in her life truly, with a deep intention, hurt anyone. Or anything. She felt ever so self consious with his eyes looking over her. She let out a small 'murrow' of laughter. "Yes, I would suppose we are meeting now." It took most of her effort not to go help Ray, to push the other tom off of him. But she was now having a conversation with this Larus figure. Seemed harmless enough.
But Boo ... She had every wish - at the moment - for that new tom to crush Ray. Take every last bit of Sakura's joy and pride. It was almost saddening, a deep disapointment at the least, to hear Ray call out the words, and see the tom's reaction. Marek was strong. no doubt it would be easy for him to take Ray down. But would Sakura's world live to see another day when Ray told her - what he believed to be anways - a lie? Could she stand it? And who would be still standing when it all crashed down? Boo would stand strong for all the world to see while Sakura sunk lower and lower.
ooc: Yes, Boo be an evil little kitten.

ooc: 'Tis good character development.
bic: As well-tuned as his intuition might have been, Larus was too preoccupied in consoling Sakura to even notice Boo's menacing aura taking form. "Well, then, nice to meet you." Squinting at the bright pure-whiteness of the landscape, he yawned, lips turning upwards as if he were human for a second, smiling. Anxiously glancing over at Marek, his heart pounded as Ray shakily rose to his paws, assumedly to confess his undying love or whatever for Sakura. He couldn't help but roll his eyes. As much as he liked these new cats, he couldn't help but be envious of these hormones running rampant in the air. Who said he was unworthy of love!
With a final grunt, Marek leapt off Ray. Watching him through the slits of his eyes, Marek inwardly threatened the tom. You're walking a thin line. Ray, a bit to his dismay, wandered straight over, no trouble at all.
"Sakura. I'm sorry for my... brash reaction. I know that I can never know how much that must've hurt you, and I shouldn't have asked you if I didn't want to hear it. It just--I don't know--slipped out unexpectedly. I do feel protective of you, and I do love you... just not in quite that way. You deserve better than me, anyway. Remember what happened with Tammy? Remember what I said about how I'd just broken her heart? As cliche, as this sounds: I'm bad news. I still want to be your friend, and I hope that this doesn't damage our friendship. Thank you for even putting up with me this far on in life."

Sakura chewed her lower lip as he talked, now no longer wanting him to meet her eyes. "It's alright, I can understand that. I mean... yeah. That would make the most sence." But she couldn't stand there anymore. Tears were brimming on the ends on her eyes, and were about to fall. She turned tail, and wished that Takuya was there, to maybe whisk away her tears.
Boo then slithered onto the scene. It was her job after all, to clean up after Sakura. An evil grin spread acoss her inside face, where no one but her could see. But an innocent look played in her eyes when she looked at the tom.
"Ray, what did you say to her? She's about to cry I think.... I haven't seen her like that in ages. You must have hit her hard." She made an extra emphisis on the last word, 'hard'. It would make him even worse, if possible.

Shaking his head, he felt worse. Why couldn't she act like most shes he knew? As much as he despised their often-irrational reactions, it was better than this! And besides, he knew that he deserved it. So caught up in his thoughts was he that he didn't even notice when Larus seamlessly maneuvered over to him. "You did the right thing," this new soft tone silkily murmured in his ear. Not bothering to look up into the tender tom-cat's eyes, he knew that he would just feel worse for it.
Rolling his eyes, Marek gritted his teeth. He had to admit that he--like Ray--had expected a bit more of a reaction. Come on! That had to have hurt at least a little! Stop bottling it all in! Just yell at him--beat him up! Something! How much did the she-cat weigh, he wondered? Even if she was smaller than Ray, he had no doubts that she could take him, and as he glanced over at Larus rushing to Ray's aide, he hissed, feeling his hackles raise. Envy brewed within him like a feral storm, threatening to break free at any moment.
At Boo's words, Ray snapped back into reality. For some unknown reason, he had the sudden urge to get at her throat, just tear into it. "I was honest with her in the most delicate way that I could manage." The air seemed to be alive with hostility; even in his broken state he was not immune to its tantalizing spells.
